I'm in a bit of a jam here (no pun intended).I bought an 05 vibe used (loved the vehicle) and just last night, the driver's window came off the track. I took the interior panel off the door and removed the window to inspect the damage. I found 2 aluminum clasps/latches attached to the rail that is part of the electric window mechanism. The latches were loose and upside down.Attempting to tighten the bolts holding the latches on were futile as the round head was thinner than the thickness of a dime and there were no slots or sockets to use a tool with.At that point I took the passenger side panel off the door and found that it had 2 plastic latches/clasps attached to the bottom of the window and also that the orientation of the latches was reversed when compared to the driver's side. That explained why there was additional torque on the window and why it came loose. It looked like a bad jury-rigged job.I've tried to go to the Toyota and Pontiac dealerships for this part but they all say that those 2 plastics pieces come attached to the window and I would have to buy a new window at $190. There has got to be a better way!I'm looking for ideas here. If someone knows the part number from a warehouse that would great as I do not mind ordering it.I'm also considering the option of taking the jury-rigged parts and machining them properly down to something that works.
