What would u do ?

Post by petervibe »

The options I have are : a set of SSR Type C 16x61/2 (silver) used but not much for 240.00 cash. OR a set of the 16x61/2 factory wheels used(some scuffs) at 200.00 cash. The SSR's are very light racing wheels . The Vibe is not used on the track, its an Auto, not 5 spd. and driven mostly by my wife. What should I do ? I am kind of leaning towards the factory wheels. If I can get them @ 200.00 pick up 50 miles from here. thanks for any thoughts you may have . cheers, peter

The SSR's are BA man... Even with the wife driving, decreasing un-sprung weight helps in many areas.. braking is the biggest in a NON-performance application.. You have less rotating inertia, so you simply work the brakes that much less when stopping.. You'd possibly see a mileage difference as well, you have less weight to try and spin up to speed... Side benefit would be better acceleration.. I would do the SSR's, but that's just me... Couple them with a decently cheap summer tire and I would feel VERY safe letting my wife drive it.. (more safe than stock) IF you DO decide to go with the SSR, make sure you get good pics or see them in person.. they are very light and could possibly crack, given a good wack on a speed bump... they are also VERY strong too, so I don't know if it would be an issue..

Thanks for expressing your thoughts. I think I would worry too much with those SSR's. I would preffer those on my Carrera !! if available !! What do the factory 16's weigh ? cheers , Peter

not sure what the stockers weigh to be honest.. I don't do a lot with the Vibe besides drive it.. my DD... The corner of the car in my sig is my mistress (the Subaru, not the 67' fastback, I could only wish for that), much like your Carrera..!! (I might be faster in fact...lol)The rest of the Sig pic...lol..

I'd go with the SSR's, I think they would look way better on the Vibe than the stockers and they are only $40 more.. but that's just my opinion.

It's my "poor mans Porsche" lol.... Hmm... I just looked, the SSR's are I'm not sure of model and such, but I didn't see a 16x6.5 that would fit anyway.. They were all 4x100, not 5x100 bolt pattern, so you prolly couldn't use them anyway..

Thanks, thats what I was afraid of. I picked up the factory 16's this am. All look ok one has some rust surface on the inside. I will use some rust jelly solution on it and clean it up. I know those aluminium wheels are very light. Thanks for checking that out for me.
