Sport Package

Post by rasermon »

On my way this morning to get a Tim Horton's coffee, I drove by our local Pontiac deal and seen the sport package on a base satellite vibe. Window sticker total vehicle price $21,730.00. The sport package alone is $1,890.00. Sorry for the crappy pics. Camera was set for 640 x 480.

front looks ok....but (removed).....the back is a disgrace... [MY OPINION] ...its terrible....mid spoiler looks like a big chunk of horrible plastic and top one is just as bad as the big goofy ricer aluminum ones...i hate the wing tips that hang over the edge.....ewwwww.....i am almost ashamed...i hope people dont associate that car w/ my vibe...i'd be embarassed!Oops....harsh words...sorry

i agree with ya. its to "busy" looky. the only thing i kinda like is the body kit, but even that isnt neccessary. i just wanna get lower springs, then ill be happy. but i guess its markets to the young "fast and furious" crowd.

I would much rather get some speed out of my car, then a few plastic body panels. The cost of the panels would add some serious speed to your car instead.

I think it looks worse. Maybe it only looks good to you (no individual target) because there's a bunch of Azteks behind it for comparison. Is there more to the sport package beyond the plastic body parts? Are there actual components that affect the vehicle performance? Can you get them without ricing the exterior? If not, I wouldn't get it if it were free. $1890 is crazy! If I had $1.9K to spend, there's so many other things I'd rather spend it on.

On a 2 tone abyss vibe (with the grey bottom tone) what color is the sport package (underbody) spoliers. I dont want the back window or roof spoiler i basically only want the kit that fit under the car on the front, back and sides. Anyone know what color it is in? Is it the abyss black or that gray color? Or do I have a choice?

That thing is disgusting. more plastic=better? no....just look at the avalanche...I guess it's good pontiac is trying, but quite a feeble attempt...the front looks like a snap together model...no thanks.if the upper wing replaced the luggage rack, then fine, but stacking on top? c'mon!

The sports package is not made for the 2-tone. Monotone only.

That is cool. I wonder what that spoiler would look like on the Matrix... TRD has a prototype spoiler out for the Matrix. The Matrix pictures on the Hotchkis website has the spoiler I'm talking about. Not offical if TRD is going to release the spoiler. This might have already been talked about, but can you buy the package in pieces? IE: not purchasing that mid-wing??-Slink

The top spoiler would probably fit the Matrix but I doubt the mid spoiler would. The Matrix tailgate is different and the Matrix taillights cut into it right where the outside mounts on the spoiler are.

Are you sure that spoiler has not been released yet? I must say that spoiler looked nice on the trix. It has better lines thatn the regular spoiler that they offer.

Currently there are only 3 companys that have wings that are designed just for the Matrix. One if a bigger version of the OE one and the other one is the APC wing. DAR Texas dealer also installs a wing.APC wing from ycart1201 member on http://www.matrixowners.com TRD prototype wing - also Matrix on Hotchkis website. Also a member on http://www.matrixowners.com DAR Wing from Matrixxx member on http://www.matrixowners.com from Florida. This is another wing available As far as I know, the trd prototype wing is only on one Matrix in Southern Cali.-Slink

The one I saw looks identiacal to the one on the silver matrix. Like I said I really liked the way it compliments the lines on the Trix. I wish I had a chance to take a closer look at it. I was turning right when he was stopped at the light.

I doubt it. It appears that the Vibe roof rack will hit all those wings.

Sorry to cross-post butAfter calling several dealer for the sport package, I think I may wait until an aftermarket vendor makes one. Two dealers have quoted me a proce of over 2K plus installation! I had thought the price included 7 hours of labor (guess I was wrong). I just can't see a total of probably 3K for that kit when the new APS matrix kit goes for 650.00 retail (come on APC do a vibe kit!).I heard back from the dealer I bought mine from and they've worked up a quote for me too..fingers corssed maybe it will be a bit more reasonable ($-wise)

When ordered as part of a factory order for a new Vibe, the package price on the window sticker includes installation. When ordered as a seperate package for installation, dealer labor cost is in addition to the part cost.
