Saw an interesting car

Post by lovemyraffe »

Yesterday I went out for a little drive and saw this little gem. Doesn't exist here. I wish I had better pictures of it, but I only had my cell phone. Toyota Corolla wagon

Looks more like a minivan than a wagon haha. Looks like an ugly version of the mazda 5.

Years ago there was a Corolla Wagon - and also a Camry Wagon (offered only with a V-6 as I remember).Ford discontinued the Focus wagon a couple years ago. It was only offered in the higher trim line - I thought that was a mistake. Few dealers stocked them. I wonder how the Hyundai Touring (Elantra Wagon) is selling. When I saw it at the auto show I was impressed with what you got for the money. IMO the Dodge Caliber looks more like a wagon than a hatchback.I had a 1977 Buick Estate Wagon - seems to me the 3rd seat faced backward.

It is definitely not one of the best looking cars, just one that isn't found in the States.

We have OLD Camry and Corolla wagons all over the place here. One went past me while on my way home today. There are even Kia Rio 5's in the area. And those are all sorts of -barf-It really does look like a screwed up Mazda 5...

I personally love the Aztek. Yeah, sure, it is admittedly a very funky-lookin' car... But I'd never seen anything like it anywhere else. And that is what made me love that car. It said, "Hey! Look at me! I'm bright and different, and on the inside I look like a spaceship!" The Mazda 5 on the other hand, I don't like. The big tall tail lights, the wide and stocky rear, only being monochrome in color (as opposed to a lot of Vibes, which have trim that is a color different from the main body), and just... Looking like a minivan. It was very clunky up-close, and driving next to it on the road. You can at least say the Aztek doesn't look like a minivan.

I've always understood from surfing the Net, (you can't get more dependable info than what you read online can you?) that the Matrix/Vibe here in the States IS the Toyota Corolla wagon in Europe. I also understand that there is a 3rd seat option for it as well in Europe. This is a 7 passenger car folks !!! This is a Mini mini-vanhttp://www.toyotainbusiness.co....aspxthere is also a different wagon sold in New Zealand.Actually I wish the Verso was sold here, I'd look very seriously at it.This is WAY better than the old Corolla wagons of days gone by here in the USA!I Don't see the ugly, I see Matrix mixed with Yaris.Dave

If you look at the new toyota venza it looks just like a fancy camry wagon I think it is based on that platform.

Yes the Venza is based on the Camry platform. Honda has a new one coming out that is FUGLY, way way fugly compared to the Venza."The Toyota Corolla Wagon, for when you have truly no taste in vehicles"

I wonder if the seats have been altered to fit 3 rows. IMO the back seats in the stow-n-go Chryslers are not as comfortable as the ones that did not fold into the floor. My 1977 Buick Wagon which was the new style had a 3rd row seat that faced rearward. That was easier to get in to.

The old Camry and Corolla wagons are easy to find here. It's the newer models that aren't found here.

I still see a few Camry, Corolla and even Accord wagons from the 90's. This thing is interesting, but kinda goofy from the rear quarters. Not feeling it. I like the Hyundai i30 (over there, Elantra Touring here) better for an European sort of wagon. If I'm not mistaken the rear facing seats became a safety issue. As did the sideways seats. My family went through two Crown Victoria LTD Ford wagons in the 80's and 90's. One was a Country Squire edition. That had the two big bench seats in the back that faced each other. NOW THAT is a car that can hole 8 comfortably. My gf's parents have an Aspen with the 3rd row. Now too bad actually.
