http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1...=5684The JVC is nice but the lack of presets on the unit kind of bothers me. The JVC would produce better sound. It offers only a USB slot. It also has a 7 band user adjustable equalizer.ORhttp://www.crutchfield.com/p_1...=5684The Jensen would not have as good of sound but it has the presets on the face and can play dvd's (which is kinda cool even though the screen is small). It also offers SD card and USB slots. This one has preset equalizer options.I have narrowed it down to these 2 head units. I wanted one with built-in HD radio and some sort of memory slot. I'm not a iPod person (yet). Both are in my price range & I would like to make a decision this weekend so I can order and get it in time for next weekend to install. So I need some input as to which one you guys think would be the better unit. Thanks!

Yeah, I saw that, but the reviews say they are kind of a pain to program and not easy to change with the remote. Also, I have the prices reversed. The JVC is $167.49 & the Jensen is 189.99. Can a mod change it for me? Thanks.

Between these two I would say JVC. Saw some shaky reviews on the Jensen. What about this?http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1....html orhttp://www.crutchfield.com/p_1....htmlSame price range, and I have heard good things about the excelon decks. I personally really liked the 693 when I looked at it a few weeks ago but ended up going with an Alpine instead.

Glad I'm not the only one who has issues with these people getting rid of the preset buttons. It cleans up the face but makes it more work since you have to scroll through each preset in sequence to find the one you're looking for instead of going straight for it. And the elimination of buttons often complicates performing basic functions -- I have a cheapie last year's model Pioneer that I bought on clearance. To do simple things from the HU like select random, repeat or pause I have to take my eyes off the road while I dive into a fricken menu. It does have preset buttons though. I kinda like the Jensen for all the stuff it can do... Throwing a couple gigs of MP3's on a DVD is nice, and the ability to watch movies and stuff. Seems to have a nice looking display. Does it have video out to send to an external monitor? The JVC is of course going to be a pretty solid unit too, and the ability to change the display colors is especially nice. I like that model for the price. Tough choice between these two... When in doubt, I check out the owner's manuals and see which one will be the one that drives me crazy the least to operate.

Once I found out you can only use it when the car it in park and the emergency brake is in use, I knew the the JVC is the one I would get. Thanks to those who replied. I should have it in time for installation next weekend. Once I sell a couple things I am not using I'll be upgrading my speakers as well.

The JVC was a good choice. We sell a lot of those at work, and everyone that gets them really likes them. The reason I did not go with a jvc is because they do not integrate with a system as well as my Pioneer DEH-5100UB. Nice pick up, you should be happy with it.

Looky what came today:I started looking at some on the install info here on Genvibe as well as the instructions that came with the stuff and I'm already lost as far as hooking up the PAC OEM2 and the Scosche SLC4...... You guys make it seem so simple, maybe I'm just not grasping it yet...I'll have to spend more time reading and looking at the info here. I was excited at first but now I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed.

I have these harnesses/connectors. I just found out that the PAC OEM2 & the Scosche SCL4 do basically the same thing. So now I need to know which one to use. The only problem is that the scosche connector does not match up with any of the other connectors or the back of the head unit and the Scosche wire colors do not match up with the JVC head unit wires. Makes me think I have the wrong Scosche harness??? Here are the pics:Everything:The Scosche SLC4:The PAC OEM2 Harness:The JVC Head Unit Harness:The Adapter Harness from Crutchfield:

OK, I'm feeling stupid. but I think I am getting closer to understanding it, but on the Scosche there are A1-A8 and B1-B8. Which wires go in which spots and does the "A" side go to the Head Unit and the "B" side go to the factory harness? Also there are more wires than spots on the Scosche. It seems that all the wires match up to the PAC OEM2 harness as shown in this pic. Would this give me the same results are far as reduced white noise?

So, I am guessing ONLY the speaker wires are goign thru the Scosche? If so, I think I found the 4 sets(8 total) of wires that match up on each harness. I just need to figure out what sequence they get wired in. I'm thinking it is obvious that I match up the same color wires to A1 & B1, A2 & B2, etc... so it would be kinda like this:

Should the corresponding wires be like is shown for the RCA plugs?Right Front = A1/A2 & B1/B2Left Front = A3/A4 & B3/B4Left Rear = A5/A6 & B5/B6Right Rear = A7/A8 & B7/B8Seems like it might be correct but it's not very self-explanatory.

what ever the scosche instructions says. I don't recall what wires go to what terminals. yes it only controls the speaker levels. Each side you see input, outputinput is radio side output is speaker sideYes the pac would do the same thing but you would only have levels going out which isn't a bad thing could be easier for you to use that. All the wires should match up

I couldn't find any online, but after reading some of the reviews on Crutchfield (you can buy it there, btw for only $20 and it comes without any harness that you don't need) I think I am correct in what I guessed before: Right Front = A1/A2 & B1/B2Left Front = A3/A4 & B3/B4Left Rear = A5/A6 & B5/B6Right Rear = A7/A8 & B7/B8
