09 Vibe AWD please come in

Post by lowincash »

any 09 vibe awd owners here? just want to know how's the ride. i mean how smooth is the ride Since the awd has independent rear suspension, is the ride smoother than the base vibes with the torsion beam? just curious.

I would assume that the AWD vibe has smoother feeling because it has independent rear suspension, although I've never driven one. The wheels with this kind of suspension can move independently without disturbing the other wheel. The torsion bar rear on the base vibe has both wheels connected by the torsion bar, or sway bar. When one wheel hits a bump the other wheel is affected. The 09 GT vibe also has independent rear suspension. These type of suspensions still have a sway bar. Just a different kind from the base vibes. Some people just buy Honda CR-V's for smoother highway ride and vibe like utility. They're really better suited for highway cruising. Personally I prefer the vibes look and kinda younger personality. I still take my base vibe out on the thruways and do 80. When I see a big bump, just grab the wheel tight because you get a little jostle. The 2.4 runs gooood!!

yeah i know the 09 GT has independent rear suspension. that's one of the main reason i chose this over the base with the 2.4L engine. since the GT has the "sport" suspension, the ride is stiffer. the awd and gt has independent rear suspension so if the awd model has a smoother ride i might change my stock springs to those lol i mean the GT's ride isn't that bad but at times i just wish for a smoother ride =P

I can not speak for the 09 AWD versions, but the 04 AWD version I have is smother than the base vibes I have driven in both generations.

I have a 2009 AWD and love the ride and handling. I like a stiffer suspension for a better road feel. This car is great in cornering. No hint of loosing control, nail the gas and it hugs the corners. This has been a great car and I purchased mine in March 08. No problems to date other than the center caps on the wheels and since I applied the GM solution, no more lost caps.

hey lowincash maybe you should test drive one to find out.. I'm not even sure if the GT vibe even has stiffer springs than the AWD. You might just be finding the vibes ride stiff in general...no matter which trim you have..

the vibe does not have sports car feel at all..unless you have never driven a sports car maybe you would think so...It has secure handling and drives fine, sporty noo.
