Has anyone had occasion to use their tire jack? I got a flat tire this morning-and when hubby went to change tire-he says the jack must be the wrong one-it is too big and doesn't fit where it is supposed to. If he has used it, it would have cracked the plastic molding. It doesn't look anything like the one in the manual. Now we have to take it back to dealer to "have a look" before we can change the tire!!

It's the proper jack it's just not well designed. It's more so the Lug remover that the jack it's self but I was talking to a tow truck driver yesterday morning because one of my 18 inch tires went flat and I refused to change the tire with it so I had it towed to Discount Tire which was only 3 miles away. He told me that he never used one for anything they look unsafe.
$18 for tire repair, $10 to take off tire!! But at least I didn't need a new tire! (went to see dealer-had to see salesman-waited 20 minutes-no luck-had to go-will try again Monday)

I don't believe RA will fix the flat. They will only remove the flat and mount your spare. You still have to get the tire patched/plugged.Happiness is having tire plugs and the ability to plug your own tires.
Would RA really have come and put on the spare at no cost to me??I really did not know that. Guess I will read up on what is covered this weekend for sure!

quote:Did ya find out what was in your tire?I just hit a pothole on I-75 in Detroit over the Davison I didnt notice it till I got up toward 8-mile then my Vibe started to Fish tail a lil. I was like (removed)? I have a FF. SO when I pulled over I saw it. It happens when you have a 225/40ZR/18 size tires. The rim held up nicely as always.......As far as replacing the tire When I first bought them I got road hazard on all 4 tires so when one goes flat in which is usually caused by a sidewall puncture, I pay $25 and get a new $150.00 tire brand new.
my dealer has a deal...as long as i use them for oil changes then they automatically give me a 100,000 mile engine warranty and also free road hazard warranty for my tires...if i need a tire plugged, then its free...if the tire needs to be replaced, then its free!!! -Phil

I used it once to try and install suspension spring inserts and found no problems with it. I had trouble finding where the jack was supposed to go, but other than that, I found it very easy to use. Of course, I have both Pontiac RA and AAA, so the only occasion I'd ever use the jack is if one or both of those can't get to me in a reasonable time, and I need to get going. Otherwise, I'd wait.BTW, what is the roadside assistance web site? I'd love to read up on what's included with the service...

I am still waiting for my Vibe to arrive, so I haven't been able to check yet. The one thing I didn't like about the Vibe was that it didn't come with a full size spare. I've had really bad luck with being in cars with flat tires. I've had to help change 5 flat tires in the last few years. Most people I know haven't even had one flat yet. (I was the driver in only 2 of those cases and I do check my tire pressure.) It really sucks when you're on a long trip on some highway and you have to drive on the spare for 50 km.RoundUp
Only had one flat in my life here, and it was cause someone slashed my tire. So I don't count that. Never had to change one on the road *crosses fingers.* I think they don't provide full-size spares because the likelihood of getting a flat is so much lower these days.
