Is there such a thing as a temperature guage for a transmission and if so where could I get one? I have a 2.4L Auto, and am considering towing a pop-up camper. I'm debating whether to install the transmission cooler. I'd like to install a temperature guage on the transmission and see how it peforms on a short trip before I start hooking stuff into my transmission for something I'll only use a week or two per year. Ideally it may be possible to keep the transmission temperature under control by how you drive and I'd like to test that out. If anyone has done it, any info would be helpful. If I'm completely nuts, let me know that, too.
Definitely install the cooler, your tranny will thank you whether you tow or not. You might look into the ScanGauge II. It just plugs into the ALDL port under the dash and it MAY give tranny temp but not positive. It WILL give you a bunch of other real time data.http://www.scangauge.com/
