Struts/shocks/dampers all the same thing... If you are looking to do proper upgrades to your suspension you have a few options.. You can go for the traditional strut/spring combo.. you can get adjustable struts (I think, it's hard for Vibes) but KYB AGX are some nice yet still inexpensive struts.. IF you can get the proper fitment.. (think matrix to, same car) Lowering springs are limited as well.. The Teins are prolly best.. there are others though.. You could also do "coil overs" which is still a shock/spring combo, but more compact, more adjustable, and more expensive.. Cheap coil overs are just that.. I have D2's on my Subie (about 1k new) and I need new shock inserts BAD.. I don't know how long they have been on the car though, i've had it almost 2yrs now.. If you go with struts/springs, make sure you replace the "top hats" or the strut mounts, that bolt to the car (at the top of the strut) this will save you a large amount of headache down the road when they DO fail..

I'm sorry, my Vibe is stock... The car I was referring to is my "play" car.. My Subie... Others here, can answer your questions.. I know a lot of people frequent Never Enough Auto (or something like that, i'm sure you can find reference of the exact name here somewhere..) Don't forget about the search function either, sometimes it works really well (though it never seems to for ME...lol)Cheers..

I bought some Tein S-Tech lowering springs on Ebay (be careful for fakes if you look). I just mounted the springs on the stock struts and have had no problem. This was done at about 89k on my 03, and I now have ~109k. NeverEnoughAuto is a great source for buying products for our cars. They are great people to deal with.
