CEL has been on for quite some time...Autozone says it's one of the two O2 sensors, but they have no way of knowing which one?!? Is there a way to find out before we replace one? We can't afford to replace one and find out it wasn't faulty! Also, what is the best place to order one from? We're prepared to pay around $100 for it, but thought I'd pick the brains of all you vibeaholics to see if there's a place with better prices than others! It's a 2003, fwd, automatic vibe. No mods.Oh, and mileage has gone way DOWN since this started, so theoretically it isn't running lean.
What is the code# you are getting? Should be PO130- PO141. The code will determine which sensor it is. Then again it could be the infamous PO420 which is a whole different story.
I also have a 2003 (manual) with the check engine light on. Autozone pulled a P-0135 code which is the front o2 sensor. I have had problems getting it fixed as I tried to do it myself for $100 and there is a chunk of metal in the hole. I stopped at two different autozones and they both told me the same code so they should be able to. Actually the Pontaic garage I ended up taking it to could not read any code.
If you have one of those oiled-gauze-type air filters, and it's the sensor near the filter, try cleaning off the sensor and see if that helps.Quote »Actually the Pontaic garage I ended up taking it to could not read any code.Did they reset the code at Autozone?
