any foglights without headlights tricks

Post by abe98gt »

Ok, before everyone gets pissed at me, I don't have access to the Vibe's where I am, so if you could help me out I'd appreciate it. On Grand Prix's, there's a place between the parking lights and headlights on the light knob that will light up your fogs and parking lights, but not the headlights. It's pretty cool. Does this trick work with Vibe's? I assume it wouldn't because Vibe's have the light switch on the turn signal stalk, but just maybe?

You cannot turn on the foglights without the headlights being on. In my wifes '93 and '99 Grand Ams, you could turn on the parking lights and the foglights without turning on the headlights. You could probably do this because the low and high beams were on different lights unlike the Vibe. I wonder if you can turn on the foglights only in the Matrix.

Doesn't the Matrix have seperate lights for the low and high beams? That's why I thought they might be able to run their foglights without the head lights being on. Just parking lights. But I know you can't turn on the foglights in the Vibe with just the parking lights, only when you turn the switch all the way to headlights. It probably is the same in the Matrix then.

That's what I meant about the low and high beams in one light. Two filaments in the same light is what I should have said like you pointed out. But if the high beams are on in a low power state in a 4 headlight system like the Matrix has, would you be able to turn on the parking lights and have the foglights come on? I would think they wounldn't because the design would be so close to the Vibe's.

My question is, can't you technically do this with the Vibe? The problem here is that the DRLs stay on as well as the parking lamps. I don't think this would change in the Matrix regardless of the lamp configuration. The headlamps will still stay on to some degree. I guess the answer then would be no.

I was considering trying a mod similar to this. I was going to try and re-wire the fogs to the headlighs and visa versa. So the Fogs would be my DTRL and the headlamps would be controlled by the fogs. I never turn the fogs off so unless there is a switch malfunction the headlights would still be on along with the fogs. Make sense?
