Lowering Springs Questions

Post by valjean »

I'm thinking about getting some SpringTech lowering springs. They say they lower about 1.75 inches. I'm wondering if this will be ok with my stock struts. At this point I don't want to get new struts. The main reason I want the springs is for better handling, the looks are just a plus. So what I'm asking is are these the way to go? Or should I go for a rear sway bar? (I've recently installed a strut tower brace.)Also, I'd rather not install the springs myself. So does anyone know what Belle Tire or a smaller shop would charge for it? I'd need an alignment after that too, right? Thanks for yo help.

Any lowering springs will put extra wear on your struts. They should be alright for a little bit if you lower it about 1.8 or whatever, but sooner or later you will need to get new ones. The Eibach pro kit and TRD springs is your best bet if you want to be on the cautious side.People have said don't really try to install the springs yourself if you are not automotively inclined. You will need a spring compressor for sure.If someone installs springs for you, the cost will vary from shop to shop. If you have an import shop around you, they would probably be the cheapest. IMO, really no sense to pay more for labor than the damn springs.-Slink
