2003 body trim replacement

Post by 03Vibrator »

Hey guys and gals. On my 2003 Vibe GT I have that grey plastic trim around the vehicle. I believe that the same year they had the option where the whole body would be one color right? My question is, can I either try to find a wrecked Vibe GT and pop them off and replace them with mine? Or just order some new panels that are already painted? I am trying to avoid to paint my whole car because it isnt worth it but I would love to get rid of that "2 tone" look that I have.

Hey Vibrator, you would probably have to find more than one wrecked Vibe or Vibe GTs to get enough good (undamaged) parts to get the deed done. Wrecked Vibe GTs would probably have some wrecked parts... so a frontal could yield some usable rear parts and vice versa. Will take some searching, but it's probably doable! Not really sure if the 03 GTs were offered in monotone... but it's likely that someone with way more knowledge on Vibe options will give some advise on this. Your Vibe GT Abyss with grey cladding is one of my favorites. I'm just guessing by your avatar that your Vibe is Abyss. But with the right wheels, a monotone Abyss can look really good, too. There are a few right here on this forum.Make sure you post some before and after pictures if you go through with the project.

i'm thinking a junkyard or ordering panels is prefered over painting the cladding you've got. painting what you've got will just flake off in time because of the finish.

Thinking the same thing ramen, plus painting would probably end up more expensive in the end, too. You can paint the plastic, but it has to be done with special flexible paint and a bit of very careful prepping to make it stick.
