Preout Questions

Post by gregarious119 »

Hey everyone,New on the boards but I've been lurking for a while. We're looking at replacing our HU in our 2003 Vibe - just started giving "PLAYER ERROR" and think it's dying. It's a M&T 6-dish changer with the amp under the passenger seat. What should I look for in amp preouts on the new head unit? Does it need the 4 channel to get the bal/fade right to all 6 speakers (I've got the tweeters in the front).I've got this deck in mind:http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1...=5684 Does anyone have any other similar-priced options that they recommend? Thanks!Greg

As far as preouts are concerned, that depends on what setup you are planning on running. If you plan on keeping the factory amp, you will just need to make sure you get the PAC OEM-2 that Crutchfield will offer you once you put your receiver in the cart. If yo uare wanting to expand on your setup, then I would recommend that you have a preout with at least 4 Volts. If you just want to add a sub, then you will only need to have the sub preout, which the one you mentioned has. If you are wanting to go big and run a new multichannel amp to all speakers and a sub, then you will need either a 5 or 6 channel amp.
