Proud new 09 Vibe AWD owner

Post by blackphoenix »

Hey people,Just registered on the forum tonight as I got my new 2009 Pontiac Vibe AWD today! This is my first new car and I must say it is awesome. I heard great things about these cars and I decided to take the plunge and get one. Finally looking forward to some genuine reliability and low depreciation- my last car was a money pit!On a side note I am getting some flack from my co-workers about my car. Note to self: never disclose purchase price and trade-in to people I don't trust. I have no regrets; what's done is done and there's no turning back now. Screw them.

Welcome to the family! Hope the car continues to live up to your expectations. We've been happy with our two '06 Vibes and also with our first NUMMI product - a Chevy Nova we bought new in '87 and still have.

Welcome to the Vibe site. Don't worry about what other people say about car prices and trade-ins... they are probably just messing with you, anyway. You bought and great car, and they didn't... so, Boo-hoo on them. But you should post pictures of your new car so we can 'see' it, too!

Glad to talk to another 2009 Vibe AWD owner, when I start the Vibe up when cold it makes a buzzy clattering noise that seems to go away after the car warms up, I told the dealer about this and he said it was normalI remember older cars that made noises like that until oil reached their lifters I wonder if this is normal for this car to do that?It responds well even during the noise but I wonder if damage could be happening?Koolou

My previous car was notorious for a "clackity clack" noise when it first starts but goes away once the engine is warmed up a little. If valvetrain noises don't go away once the engine reaches normal operating temp, you got a problem. My advice is to let the engine idle for a least a minute, more if it's below freezing out, before driving off. You only risk any type of damage if you just start up and drive off when it's cold outside. So nothing to worry about as long as the noise goes away.Glad to meet another AWD owner. So far, all I've seen are base models and GT's here.

How come you didn't get the chrome clad rims for your AWD??? is that different in US compare to Canada? Here we get chrome clad only for AWD... or wheel cap...

Here we get chrome clad only for AWD... or wheel cap...I got the 17" bright machine faced rims as an option. I didn't expect to get these wheels as I looked on the Pontiac website and saw the plastic cover wheels or the chrome ones as choices. But when I saw this car on the dealer lot, I was like "I didn't know these wheels were an option."I couldn't tell you if this is only available in the US, I would imagine you could get them in Canada.
