Driver power door lock

Post by wingman7000 »

The power door lock mechanism for the driver door has stopped working in my '03 Vibe GT. All of the other doors will open with the key fob and the power lock switch on the door. The dealer says the assembly will cost about $500 to fix. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know if the same part out of a Matrix will work? Thanks

The parts from a trix "should" work, you would need to see them both to confirm... If I were you I'd consider taking it to an audio shop where they do alarms and talk to them about it.. It's simply a 12v door lock actuator, that 500$ figure that the dealer gave you is a smoke screen... it's a 20-50$ part maybe..

Funny that this was posted. I have been having intermittent problems with my driver side door lock as well. When I replace my speakers im going to take a look at it since the panels will be off. I also have a passenger side door handle that needs to be replaced.Might as well get it all done in one shot!

Let me know how that goes. I'm interested to know what that part looks like. Could you take some pics when you do it? Thanks.
