PCM Warranty after 80K mile / installing yourself

Post by Tubaryan12 »

At 82k miles I got the check engine code P2716 on my 4 yr old Vibe. From searching the forums, I found that this is most likely a bad PCM or shift solenoid valve. Has anyone had any luck getting a PCM replaced after the 8yr /80K warranty has expired? Is this a part that I can replace myself by removing one from a wrecked Vibe? If so, is there anything I should check to make sure I don't buy another one that could possibly be bad as well? On the Shift solenoid valve: can this part be easily replaced or do I have to go to a shop to have it done?

New twist: the hard shifting seems to only happen once the car has warmed up. Any thoughts?
