My Vibe's first Trip to service shop for a repair--

Post by slbpsi63 »

I am a little upset, but I am sure the dealer will fix whatever the problem is. Yesterday I noticed that my vibe was making a metal grinding metal sound from my front drivers side wheel well. I called the service shop this moring and dropped her off. The sounds reminds me of the sound a car makes when the brake pads are worn all the way and the rotors are being grinded by metal. I found this odd b/c my Vibe only has 10,500 miles on it. The brake pads should have lasted a little longer than that?.?. The sound was also being made when I was not applying the brake. I haven't heard what the problem is yet, but I will keep you posted. I just had an oil change and the tires rotated 2 weeks ago and they didn't say anything then. Anyone else have this problem???

Does the sound happen when you turn the wheels? It may only be the disc brake backing plate is bent or rubbing on the rotor.

It turns out the splash guard was loose (didn't even think to check for that) and rubbing the tire. It was covered under warranty. I'm just glad the brakes were fine.
