2004 non-turbo,automatic transmission.fwd, 94,000 miles. "cel" shining bright. codes Po133 and Po171. engine running ok. cold start idles around 1750rpm,s. never in sub-zero temps as tsb inquires. tsb says dealer should recalibrate computer ???? mpg in city is usually 22 mpg.no problem observed except "cel" is on. question = can problem build up and leave driver stranded? broke down? also can cat converter be damaged with"too lean"code?? thanks for any advice. Jamesmetairie.
Usually rich running will damage the cat. The O2 sensor signals changes in the air/fuel mixture so if it's weak and on it's way out, it will cause poor fuel mileage. You won't get stranded but it should be dealt with quite quickly.
