69-8613TS K&N SRI for '09 Vibe Installed

Post by imspace2 »

So K&N now makes a full performance intake system for the 2.4L. My question is their website only lists it as being compatible with the Scion XB and '09 Matrix(Duh). I guess all I need to know is the MAF Sensor on the Matrix "exactly" the same as the Vibe?

They are the same on the 1st & 1.5 Generation Vibes. I don't see why they wouldn't be the same on the 2nd Generation Vibe as well.

Thanks, I talked to a guy on car domain who added one to his '09 Trix and he said it just "dropped" in. Nothing bent, cut or relocated.

Well I went and bought a K&N typhoon system for the 2.4L, it was pretty easy to install and makes a great difference in driving excitement. They even provided a copy of the dyno test for the engine and say it nets a little over 9 more HP over stock. That combined with my Magnaflow exhaust makes it all the better. As far as I know, no it will not all hoses and sensors connect back up just fine. K&N says its all good as long as the system is installed properly. Wow does it sound and look great. I'm working on getting pics and movie up soon.$250 on Ebay plus free shipping action=view&current=CME09APR091440.jpg" TARGET="_blank">action=view&current=CME09APR091441.jpg" TARGET="_blank">action=view&current=CME09APR091442.jpg" TARGET="_blank">action=view&current=CME09APR091444.jpg" TARGET="_blank">

FYITrue there isn't much clearance between the pipe and the strut brace but rest assured they do not rub each other. Mine is only scratched from installing it. Also if you guys want more pics please ask, these were just quick shots from my cell phone.Movie with sound, it clips a little but otherwise sounds great. Also hit this link with your PC or MAC the video is uncompressed 640x480 from my cell phone so it takes a bit to load.http://s327.photobucket.com/al...1.flv

The paint on the engine cover letters is already peeling on the '09s and I just figured out that my brake pedal is really loose

Thanks,I think its a 12 or 14in Magnaflow(I could check my receipt) and yeah thats what I was shooting for as far as the loudness. Its makes a clean burble from 0-1500rpm then stays quiet until about 3.500. If you're looking for clean and not so loud take your vibe to a place that will let you try on multiple mufflers and see what you think for yourself.I'm not really sure about the warranty, K&N says I should be good and if Pontiac wanted to hit me I suppose it would only be from the intake to the exhaust back. But I highly recommend this little combo, makes a world of difference in "fun" and after the air box system you can physically feel a difference across the line.If anyone wants to make me an offer on a TRD drop-in filter let me know, its got roughly 5400 miles on and makes a bit of noticeable difference. From what I hear from now on if a CEL comes on, I have to foot the bill.

Quote, originally posted by modern_orestes »will that void your warranty? No. Federal law prohibits a dealer from voiding your warranty just because you are using aftermarket speed equipment, with only two exceptions: the warranty can be voided if the aftermarket part causes damage or adversely affects the emissions or the emissions system. In recent documents produced by the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association), a trade association-representing specialty automotive parts manufacturers, and the following quotes have been extracted:"The vehicle manufacturer is not allowed to void the vehicle warranty just because aftermarket equipment is installed on the vehicle. This protection for consumers is the result of a parts self-certification program developed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA)."Under the program, if a parts maker completes the EPA process of self-certifying its parts, the vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty even if the certified part has failed and is directly responsible for the warranty claim. In cases where such a failed aftermarket part is responsible for a warranty claim, the manufacturer must arrange a settlement with the part manufacturer, but the new vehicle warrant is not void under the law."If the failure to honor a claim involves the new-vehicle warranty, and it appears that the manufacturer is improperly denying a claim, the incident should be reported to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The FTC is responsible for monitoring compliance with the warranty law; the agency's telephone number is 202/326-3128." For more information see SEMA's website at http://www.sema.org. BTW, nice sounding Vibe! And thanks for the info on the K&N

Imspace2, how many miles have you put on your Vibe to get those peeling engine cover letters?
