need a new front bumper.. base to gt?

Post by breakingthebroken23 »

well i hit a patch of ice last week in my 09 base and slid into a ditch at about 30mph. i got it aligned and had an est to fix the bumper, to my suprise its a $700 fix because it needs a whole new bumper. and then i find out my deductable is $1000!so after thinking about it for a while i figure maybe ill just put a gt bumper on instead.. at least it'll feel more like a mod thn a repair bill.. i kinda like the look of the gt front end but got a base for the 1.8's mileage. the body shop i went to seems to think it will work but will cost a little more because i'll need the grills, and i figure ill fill in the foglight holes with some aftermarkets. it just seems like a lot of money for such a small eyesore. i have no idea which way to go. ive even considered covering it up with a lebra.. what would you guys do? 1. leave it as it is ($0)2. get a new stock bumper ($700)3. gt bumper ($800)4. lebra ($75)

Is that all that is wrong with it, just the little triangle piece missing? Or is it all scraped up too? I'd be tempted just to live with it, at least until you find one in a junkyard or something. That $700-800 price tag is disgusting.

I'd be a little torn... you bought a new car, so I'd want it to look new. But at the same time, I'd hate spending the money...If that triangle is all that's wrong with it, I'd be tempted to wait until I could find parts cheaper. I also vote NO on a bra - had one on a previous car and it fogged the paint. I will never buy one again...Welcome to the wonderful world of RSAs and snow...

There's a GT bumper on ebay, but it also looks a bit rough. I'd get the GT bumper - I like it better than the one on my 2.4L.

GT bumper. Put 'le Bra' over the damage and save up for the GT bumper and some fogs. Even if it wasn't damaged, get a GT bumper and add fogs. Will make a huge difference on the looks of your Vibe.
