Have 09 Vibe, 2.4L Auto. Get mileage according to stated specs however. Has anyone come across an explanation that addresses why an 09 Vibe purchased in the Us gets 15% to 17% less miles per gallon than the same car purchased in Canada.Even accounting for the difference in the Imperial and US gallon sizes there is still a discrepancy in mileage. Thanks
The test cycles used by the governments in the two countries are different. The US EPA was criticized for having mileage figures that were too optimistic for many drivers and they revised their tests a couple years ago which lowered their figures. I had found the previous EPA numbers to be a little lower than what I got in our '06 Vibe and the new, revised numbers are very pessimistic compared to what I get.The government figures are a decent guide for comparing different vehicles. But make sure you're using the same government and from the same year so they're based on the same test cycle. Don't expect them to match your actual results since those will depend on your driving conditions and habits which might well be different from the test cycle assumptions.
Ok, so any Canadian Vibe owners out there that can confirm the mileage they are getting in Miles/Litre or Litres/100KM with a 2.4L Automatic. Then we will know for sure if the cars get the same ACTUAL mileage or what I think is that there is some sort of different emissions device on the US version that reduces the fuel economy. Thanks

My '06 mileage drops as soon as I take it over the border. It's weird. j/k.
