I am looking to upgrade my 17in chrome clad rim as well....Can I simply replace the rim and use the existing factory tire? To reduce the cost...what will be the width of the rim? 17in X ??As well, what do I do with the TPMS sensor? Can I pull it out from factory rim and put it onto the new rims?

As somewhat mentined here already... Don't forget weight... It plays a key role in car performance... do some reading on "unsprung weight" It effects milage, acceleration, braking, and overall handeling... If at all possible, you want to go lighter, not heavier.. I shaved ~5lbs per corner on my Subie when I got my forged Volks, and I could almost instantly tell a difference, espically after adding ~150lbs of sound deadener... It was like I got my performance back after adding the deadener... (on a (removed)-dyno mind you)
Hey, Sub, I put a set of the 17" Borbet wheels on my Vibe with a slightly larger tire than Pontiac puts on their optional 17s. Here's what I have noticed so far.1. Added wheel and tire weight is not detrimental to overall ride or handling. I went from the 16" OEM RS-A to a 225/50 17 Kumho Ecsta Platinum LX all season. Very quiet and smooth running tire, that is way more responsive than the RS-A. A very good thing for a Vibe. 2. On the negative side, the ride is a tad stiffer. Stiffer sidewall and inflation press. probably responsible for that. But the quicker response and quiet nature of this new tire is well worth the slightly stiffer ride.3. My Vibe tracks much better at speed on highways.4. Have not seen a fuel economy hit, probably because I keep the inflation a little higher than recommended (adding to that 'stiffness' quotient) and tend to drive reasonably.Now, I don't disagree one bit with your statement about light wheels at all. I'm a Colin Chapman fan and one of my favorite quotes " to add speed, add lightness." was his. He had a bunch of good ones. Sticking a set of heavy wheels and tires on a high performance sports car would be crazy. For top performance, everything light is golden. The same goes for acceleration. Turning a set of heavy wheels from a dead stop quickly would be like ramping up a heavy flywheel. Unless someone is going to race a Vibe, having a set of wheels that are a few pounds heavier per corner than the OEMs should not be that detrimental. I find my Vibe much improved with this wheel/tire.

Weight blah blah blah. I don't think it's really an issue with a Vibe. I love my Vibe as much or more than most people on here, but I did not make weight a factor in my wheel selection. I'm not going to be racing anyone anytime soon, and braking has never been an issue for me. The Vibe is my sexy cruise mobile, and that suites me just fine.

Yes they are... and i'm not EVEN saying(or implying) go buy Volks.... I'm just saying, be weary of weight.. Vibers are gas misers, seems economy rules over all, so adding weight there WILL make the car work harder.. just sayin..
