EDIT: Wow, you folks respond in a hurry! Thanks for the insights, I fixed it just a few minutes ago. Faulty cable that came with the dock. Glad that's done, now everything sounds great! Thanks again!Hello all. This is my first car with an aux connection, and I currently keep my ipod touch (1st gen.) connected with a Belkin (I believe) tuneflex that holds, charges, connects, etc. I've only had the care about 3 weeks now, and I have noticed that the stereo sounds terrible when the ipod is playing. It sounded originally like the speakers had blown - crackling and popping sounds and the like. I took it to a dealership and the guy played the XM, radio, etc. and the stereo sounded fine, so we thought maybe it was bad compression on some songs. It now seems to me like every song sounds that way. I've tried reversing cable ends, uplugging replugging, etc. and nothing works. However, this morning I pulled the plug half-out so only the right channel played, and everything sounded fine. What gives? Any audio electrical junkies out there have any ideas for me? Any and all help/advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you!Mack
Sounds like it's not making a complete connection. On a stereo jack both 'rings' need to connect snugly. If it sounds good when partially out, I'd say the connector (either the Vibe or the pod) isn't contacting properly. Try with another ipod, discman, whatever hooked up and see if it does the same thing to troubleshoot what end it's on.
Like kunkstyle said, try different devices... I would check the cable too - go to Radio Shack and buy another one to test with if you don't have one.I've had bad cables on computer speakers do what it sounds like yours is doing.

Make sure your ipod is turned down to 1/2-3/4 level, if it is turned all the way up it will sound like crap.

Load some lossless compression songs onto the i-Pod and see if it sounds better. My iPod sounded "OK" but not great. I think a pre-amp line-driver might help. iPod output is usually pretty low voltage. It helps to get it up to a consistent 2V - 4V.My guess is that the pre-amps on factory stereos are not that great because they usually are deigned to run amps from speaker-level output. So, they don't invest a lot into the pre-amps. You might try something like this:http://www.amazon.com/PAC-TURB...EDZBU
