Post by jwsjr »

'06 with automatic transmission, 69K miles, having engine vibration at idle whether engine is cold or warm. dealer repair shop says worn engine mount and transmission mount are the culprits. anyone else have this problem? if so, what was the cause?

i have an 06 auto with about 88K on it and I haven't had any problems like that. I know that doesn't help you much, but that just sounds odd that they are saying it both motor and transmission mounts. Not to mention I'm sure it would be a pretty penny for them to do the work.

I have a 2003 with no signs of engine mounts 'wearing out'. Although it's possible the 2006 have a different mount supplier I would say its very unlikely this would cause excessive vibration. If you think about it, the better/tighter the engine mounts, then any engine vibration would translate directly to the frame of the car so you would feel the littless vibrations. If the mounts where 'wearing out' then they would actually allow more room for the engine to vibrate without you feeling it in the driver's seat. In other words, the engine mounts are designed to absorb the energy from the engine movements, and any wear would theoretically allow for more energy to be absorb.I would say you should narrow down the cause of the engine vibration to something whether it is either something out of balance, or a rough or uneven idle. If it's rough idle, then check your pcv valve, vacuum tubes and intake for leaks. Check your plugs for wear/fouling, proper gap. Try a fuel additive to clean any possible injector fouling that can affect fuel spray.

I forgot that this resets the computer and allows it to more easily make adjustments that may be needed as driving conditions/mods affect the engine performance. After I let the potent injector cleaner do it's thing and if the problem persists I will try this:http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...age=2

Might be worth looking into. Depending on your driving style, the mounts could be bad. When I did my inserts at 20k I found the rear mount was torn...The theory about worn mounts not causing vibration is a little off target. Worn mounts will cause the engine to move around more with little rubber to stop it or cushion it. You will feel it...
