Hi all,Thought it might be nice to have a post, showing off the goodies you've already gotten, will get, or are working on through the winter months.. I'm lucky enough right now to have the Vibe as my DD and my Subie as my garage queen/show car... it's been 35yrs in the making (as of this past Saturday) so i'm happy, but it's double edged sword... So, i've gotten most all of my Xmas early... been collection parts for the past year in fact.. Most have seen my sound deadening work, which took me all of last winter.. The project came to a halt when show season started, so now it's time to start up again... This winter will be the audio install, I can't wait to get started, but i'm apprihensive at the same time... It's been a LONg time since I've done an install of this caliber.. Option 1Option 2So, show me what you got?? (give comments, ask questions, tell me i'm a loser if you like... lol.. )

I have an Alpine c/h701 processor combo (the "c" is the controller and the "h" is the processor) which will be doing all of my preamp, EQ, crossover and time alignment functions AND it has 3 optical inputs.. The xBos is already modded with a 12v supply (with extension to power the exHDD) and , if you notice, there is an external HDD (500g) that will connect through the network connection... It's also got xBox master control installed, which basically turns it back into a PC... Then I have sun visor monitors to display everything... Stealth mode... Sweet!I like Option 1 better. You have a better pic of what you're using for your HU and for Visual?See above...!!Quote, originally posted by ajflan »You're a loser. HA! That looks awesome, I wish I had a winter project! Loser with a hot carrr... lol.. Quote, originally posted by NibCrom »Use an Xbox 360 instead. They are much harder to mod to do this, from my understanding and I don't need one, burning my car down... or getting the RROD every month... The old XB is tried and true... Tanks.. thanks for the comments... So, nobody else has winter projects.. I mean I know many of you DD your Vibes (as do I), but, well, I thought "maybe"

I have the Night Shades tint already, so just waiting for some free time. Also I'm going to re-wire the neons in my subs. Hopefully it won't catch fire like last time... Ps. Option 2.

HID, nice... I'm thinking about them for mine, i'm just worried about them in the stock housings and I can't buy the projectors right now, so i'm sunk... Maybe HIR's for now.... can't even do that ATM... rough time of year.. Option 2 is originally what I was going to do, and then the UL12 came along and I couldn't resist.. It's supposed to be one of the best sounding subs ever produced for car audio..... http://www.google.com/search?q...US283That being said, same goes for the IDQ15's, one of the best sound quality subs ever produced, and radically different in design for the both of them.... One using rare and extreme materials (neodinium ring magnet, carbon fiber, special cast basket designed for heat transfer and built to handle 2500wRMS) the other, a very basic stamped steel basket, small magnet assembly, traditional poly cone, roughly 500wRMS power handling.. so opposite ends of the spectrum in design, but on a rather level playing field in terms of sound quality.. bizarre.. Well I'm gonna say that if they are on a level playing field you can either go for looks with having the 2 subs, or go for convenience of space with just the one (but I don't think you care about convenience). And for the fire, noob mistake. The basic set up of my electronics is this:Neons in my sub enclosure is wired to amp.Neons under my dash is wired to head unit and NOS switch.I decided I would connect the neons from the subs to the switch so that it could turn on and off with my neons in the front (the neons in the back didn't turn on and off with the car, you had to physically go back there and turn the switch on and off). I decided to run some wire to my NOS switch from the back and there was way too much power running through the ground wire back to the amp, and then next thing I know there is smoke pouring out from every hole in the dash, as well as a wire in the subs...Had to replace a lot of wires because the ground wire melted onto everything.I'm still not sure what was smoking in the back though...
going TMIC because with the 20G, it is not necessary for what I plan on running. also, I drive too much and an FMIC would be destroyed too easily. With our cooler denser temps here, the TMIC should support the turbo just fine. I don't plan on getting meth, so just 90, 93 and 100 oct maps for me.

Funny story, I used to work at a audio shop once, a really high end one... Well the owner DD a old Ford Escort, and it had an amp under each seat, and they had been there for like 5yrs at the time I was working there... The orrigional head installer did the work (and wasn't there anymore)Well, one day the ownder went out and started the car, and it begain to fill with smoke... It was a good thing the battery was weak, cause it was the only thing that saved the car from burning down... Come to find out, the power line wasn't fused at the battery, and when the installer put the passenger seat back in, he pinched the power wire with the seat, to the floor... IT LASTED 5 YEARS and one day, bam... nearly burnt the car down.... I had to fix all the wiring from the passenger seat, all the wat to the batt.... it burnt a nice line through the carpet to.. lol... Now, as far as level playing field, i'm really not 100% sure of that, they both are touted as being some of the best sound subs out there, but doing it redically different, i'm sure they have there own distinct sounds... time will tell.. hey, Sublimewind, can you post some more pictures of your roll cage? Or direct me to some that you already have posted? I really like it. Can I see some of the back of the seats?
you can't have the rear seats with the roll cage. no room.we'll hopefully be picking up (if it really happens) our friends 98 2.5RS black coupe. that will be a project car, has to be driveable since it will get better mpg than the STI. so may drive around in that in the winter time or summer, or just split driving with it.
