My best friends step father purchased two, one t-top and one convertable. Both cars where delivered to his barn directly from the dealer and have less than 10 miles each. I was speaking with him and he mentioned that he would sell the convertable for $22k and the t-top for $20k. Would this be a decent offer? Remember that each car hasn't been started once since they where purchased a few years ago. If this is a steal, I would think about finding a way to purchase one.
I wouldn't think that the coolant would harm anything since they use Dexcool (sp?) which doesn't have to be changed for 5 years. The oil is probably bad and would have to be changed plus the battery is probably dead as well. The cars have not been started as far as I know since they where purchased. They have been setting in this guys heated barn for a few years with all the other stuff he has collected.

If you are going to need a loan to buy one of them, talk with the bank early and often. As far as value, go buy a news stand and pick up a Hemmings Motor News. See what they are selling for in there. Also surf the Pontiac and Firebird sites you can find on line. http://www.poci.org I think is th eowners club. Good luck (Take the convertible).
The only thing I'd be concerned about is that letting a car sit is often harder on it than actually driving the thing. A couple of years is not too bad but you would want to drain ALL the fluids (tranny, oil, etc) as condensation may build up in them.On the plus side, a heated shop is certainly the best place to let a vehicle sit!I'd suggest doing a little surfing to figure out what it will require to get one of these cars running in the best possible manner. It's tempting to just run in with the key and some booster cables and 'fire 'er up' but, a wee bit of preventative maintenance before starting the cars will go a long way.just some thoughts.

Tell your friend's Dad to keep them in the barn under a good cover. Since this is the last year that they are producing the Trans AM, the cars will be worth a lot more than $20K in about another 2-5 years.

He has collect so much stuff over the years that my best friend spends 40 hours a week selling stuff over Ebay. He was going to raffle them off and give the money to the church but there was no serious offers so he just held onto them. Let's just say he's eccentric and sometimes his reasoning defies all logic Thanks for the advice on which site to seek help at
