So, I just installed my Sony HU to regain my Blutooth and Sirius...talked to Crutchfield multiple times....all this in an '05 with M&T and have read some of the related threads....and it all works...the amp, Sub, CD, FM, Blutooth, and the Sirius through the XM antenna on the roof. BUT, I've got a very loud click/surge through the speakers whenever I change something....source (FM to CD to Sirius), or when I turn the volume all the way DOWN, or turn the unit off. The speakers are not run through the harness, rather coming off the back of the HU, PreAmp? RCA's into the harness to the amp. That was Crutchfield's suggestion, as the output of the HU would have been to high for the amp? My last converstation with Crutchfield tech staff left me with ground the chassis. I hooked the HU ground into the wiring harness ground along with the Sirius ground thinking it was all good. I've tried to find any ground issues, and trial grounds from chassis to car metal (dash supports) with no change. I even cut the ground off of radio to wiring harness and spliced in ground to car and no change. I'm getting some volts from chassis to car (on the voltmeter), and this did decrease with the last harness ground to car but did not change the loud click/surge noise. I'm concerned I may do some damage if I keep using it this way, besides the fact that it is really loud and annoying. So, the dash is still in pieces, and I"ve run out of ideas. Any ideas?? Thanks!
You need the PAC OEM adapter from Crutchfield.I had the same problem and putting it in solved it.Ask Crutchfield to give you half off the price because it is required for the radio to function properly.
