2009 Fog Lamp Parts - $444 dealer retail

Post by ned23 »

I got the dealer retail price for the OEM parts to add Fog Lamps to an '09 Vibe. Lamps, Relay, bulbs and Switch run $444 straight-up from dealer. Add $28 for GT lamps because of the different trim. The lamps plug in right where the delete plugs go. They're basically mounted in what looks like a delete plug with the center cut out. Most of that cost is dealer mark-up and if you call Pontiac and have them call your dealer they may be able to negotiate a discount on the parts.

wshew... that's expensive for stock lamps. IMHO PIAA makes some really nice stuff for much less:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00067BUYC

It would be nice if you could install those in the same place on your bumper as the where the stock lamps go. The wiring is all already there and they won't protrude in such a way as to "attract" flying road debris.

Also, I'm not aware of the force of nature that attracts road debris to fog lights, but it may be related to the wormhole that consumes single socks at random.

They usually install them below the bumper, which in this case is much closer to the road. Half the reason I want them is to replace the black plugs in the bumper.

I don't know who "they" are, but I wouldn't hire them. I'd either put them on myself in the stock location, or hire "someone" who will put them in their proper spot.

The inside of the bumper is enclosed with cover on the rear. There are not many places to attach a bracket inside of it. There's also the trick of sealing up the hole so the inside of the bumper doesn't fill up with stuff blown into it or get filled with snow and ice. I know that salvage parts aren't available yet, and I've also been told that when you have an intact front-end, usually they want to sell the whole front-end to a body shop. I'm also still working with the dealers. I may be able to get the stock stuff installed for $300 or so.
