Has anyone installed the TRD CAI or exhaust in a base car yet? The price is down to $195 for the CAI and $300 for the exhaust. Supercharger may be out of my price range. On the other hand, CAIs and exhaust change the sound and feel of a car but don't always produce when actually measured at the track or on the dyno. You'd think the TRD stuff would be the best but...
Wow - those are some really great prices! I think I paid like $235 for the CAI and something like $460-$495... TRD's web site is currently showing $722 for the XRS muffler - I can't seem to pull up a listing for the intake on their web site at the moment. Those would certainly be excellent prices - very competitive with other offerings. They definately don't equal a supercharger, but they increased driveability. The exhaust helped w/ low end torque and it sounds great - none of the mad-hornet / fart can sound we all hate. The intake helps at the top end. It probably has impacted fuel economy because I find myself running in the higher rpm's more because its so dawg-gone fun! Quality of the CAI? I think the general consensus is AEM, Injen, TRD are very similar. Some of the stats indicate TRD CAI meets peak hp at a lower rpm (6500), which is a good thing for my driving needs. The exhaust? Matrixvibe.net had a posting with a link to a series of sound clips and specs for different exhausts on a corolla. http://www.matrixvibe.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2126 The exhaust fit perfectly, and I think the bending on the CAI is different enough from the other offerings that I didn't encounter the infamous foglight clearance problem. I think the answer to what is "best' comes down to what best suits a persons needs, budget, and their "fancy".

I bought my TRD springs from Ted Roach/Jesse Sierra, they're with the same outfit, Sterling McCall. Thanks for the links! $400 is a bit steep for the TRD exhaust for the XRS.

Yes,Thanks to those of you who replied with the info. That's who I was referring to. Thanks Lorin for the information. I may try the CAI first just to save money. Just purchased the TRD springs and have to get them installed. Anyone have any concerns over whether installation of the CAI or exhaust will void the engine warranty?Tim
