HIR lights

Post by jerzVibe09 »

This is a followup to an earlier posthttp://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=35550I just installed the 9012 HIRPRICE: $52INSTALL: Easy. If you can get the stock bulbs out, thats the hardest part. (need small hands). Modifying the base of the HIR bulbs was easy, I used a dremel with a cut wheel. Took 5 minutes and I don't think I was overly precise. RESULTS: I don't notice a huge difference in the light output. I am not overly impressed. But I see an improvement. I drove home in the rain and didn't notice and refraction problems. See pics.CONCLUSION: If you need new headlights, these make a good replacement. If you want really bright upgraded lights, these aren't the solution.

I had HIRs in my car for months. I loved them! The output was definitely noticeable to me. I have since moved them into my Fog lamps since I upgraded to HIDs. Cost of those was $70. They won't give you the color that most people desire, but in terms of usefulness, I was able to see farther and wider. Light output is measured in Lumens. The low beam HIR outputs 1000 lumens versus a stock low beam at 7-800. Your stock high beam is approximately 1100 lumens and an HIR high beam is almost 1800. 9006 = 90129005 = 9011Many people use the 9011 bulb in their low beams to get that additional oomph. I gotta find my old post about the HIRs, it's here somewhere with pics.

yah the beam shines farther and wider than before and output was quite brighter than stock. they are definitely a good improvement over stock. of course these won't be as bright as HID's but i notice when driving down the street or fwy my car throws out more light than other halogen cars around me.
