I'm new to this forum but I hope you can help.I just recently had a friend install a remote car starter for me on my wife's 03 vibe. The model of the RS is Crimestopper 1300DPII. This unit uses the factory keyless remotes to operate the RS. He has installed well over 50 Crimestopper units but not this model. We hooked it up. All works expect the side marker lights and tail lamps do not illuminate unless the headlight switch is specifically turned to parking lights or head lights. When I turn the headlight switch off, the lights do not turn off. I have to restart and shut down the vehicle for them to turn off. Also, the illumination in the radio and hvac controls don't work either unless the headlight switch is used. Do you think the DRL module or headlight switch is bad? Thanks in advance for your help.
Well it appears that most wiring diagrams for installing a remote start in a vibe will tell you to tap into the wiring under the column. This is NOT correct. It apparently burns out a circuit in the DRLs. We were supposed to tap into the wiring under the kick panel. I learned this from a person that made the same mistake. I ordered a new DRL module that will hopefully correct the problem.
It was the daytime running light module. $50 shipped from ebay. Supposedly came out of a '06 with 4 miles. (???) The illumination in the radio and the heater controls come on faster now.
