It is very easy to remove the door panels on the 09 vibe. Pry off the window control switch panel from the rear first. There will be two screws accessible with a philips screwdriver. Pry the panel off located behind the door latch. There will be a philips screw you will have to remove. Then all you have to do is pull the panel off from the bottom of the door using firm quick tugs. The door panel is held on by plastic clips.

If it works out well I might give it a shot. Seems a heck of alot cheaper than the FatMat or Dynamat routeI believe this is the YouTube segment you were referring to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...lated

So, what quantiy are you getting for 15$? As I thought, that is an asphalt based product... Being so, it's going to "offgas" some wonderful smells over time... may or may not stick well on verticle surfaces (in the heat) and generally doesn't work as well as others butyl based deadeners.. Look at RAAMaudio at RAAMat BXT for a better product.. That is still cheap..

That's not bad man... really... I'd like to know the products they plan on using and the amount of coverage that propose for that price... The biggest thing with sound deadening, is it's so labor intensive... I'd say I've got 60+hrs in my car, in just the deadening.. VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV

i might eventually sound deaden the whole car one day...but i'm taking it slowly...since i am not good at installs i'm going to have those audio shops do it for me and probably do bit by bit...but i'm doing the doors first mainly because i wanted it to sound more solid when closing them.btw, i was wondering, can we stick some sound deadening stuff to the radio? i mean behind the dash or something because i have this rattle when it's cold...not rattle but sort of a squeak whenever i hit a bump and it seems like it's coming from behind the radio area lol

Deadener isn't designed to stop rattles... you need "isolation" for that, or placing something between the 2 offending parts rattling/squeeking... I have an install tutorial the shows how easy it is to get the factory unit it... it's really easy.. Might be a little DIY project for you... the more you do the better you get.. If you are truely "lowincash" DIY is the way to go..

do you have a link to your tutorial page? yah i guess only way to stop rattles and squeaks is to put things between where it's rubbing...i put some rubber things in my driver side air vent in between two plastic pieces that were touching and have stopped that rattle for now.oh btw, i've scheduled this saturday to get my vibe front doors sound deadened...$100 for both doors and they're using dynamat. not sure why this place is half the price of the first place i got a quote from...i guess those bigger companies charge more.

well i had my two front doors installed with dynamat yesterday and i think it's worth it. i notice it's somewhat quieter driving on the highway...when cars fly by you it's not as noticeable as before. the stock speakers somewhat sounds better too. but the best part is i like how the doors sound when closing it now...nice solid thud hahahave some pieces left over...i might use it for my external hard drive cuz it makes vibrating sound when on =/ hope it'll work.

Might be off balance, a wire touching the fan blade, or a loose screw. You should be able to get a replacement fan for the enclosure from any computer parts supply store for within $10.00

SWEET...!!! Congratz... I'd still like to know how much material they used on the door and where.. IDK if that is possible, but it would be nice... The link to my tutorial is in the DIY section, about 3/4 the way down the stickied thread..

i'm not good at removing car parts and i have no idea how to remove the door...i tried but no luck lol but i did take a peek when they were working on my car...i only saw them put it on where the speakers are. they said they had to use an extra piece and says it's $18 more but i didn't' see that charge =/ they did give me the left over pieces and the bigest piece was the round one they cut out for the speaker.

sounds like a decent job then... I was wondering if they did the inner door skin AND the outter skin, sounds like they may have.. A lot of companies sell "door kits" with an amount of deadener good enough for 2 doors..

If you could figure out how to lessen the noise coming thru the extremely thin windows then the other sound abatement projects would be worth a try. Thin windows = light wieght = noisy interior.

i do notice some wind noise coming from the front windows...i plan to buy some thin foam weather strip things from home depot and just slide it in. i did that on my previous car and i was able to minimize the wind noise quite a bit.

Thin windows = light wieght = noisy interior.Thin windows is just the beginning, there are MANY more aspects that could be addressed first.. you are right though, this is an "economy" car, so sound deadening and things like thicker glass are not of a huge concern... Like my GF's Aveo, you think the Vibe is loud... lol... Here is a link to a thread explaining how I found my door seal leaks. getting rid of the leaks helped alot, but the thin window/noise I haven't figured out...well maybe a 09 Malibu I here they are pretty quite.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=31699

the 09 new malibu's are very quiet...they have laminated front windshields and double pane side windows which are acoustic laminated too. my friend has one as a company car and that car was very quiet. but i'm going to try to put some weather strip in the window channels this weekend to see if it helps.

Okay, so I'm installing front door speakers in my friends 09 vibe. He has the manual windows, and I read an older write up where you have to take the clip off the handle. I've looked and can't seem to find where the clip is on the handle. Do you have to pry it out a little to get to it?!? There's a plastic piece behind the handle that looks like a little washer, is the clip behind that somehow. Any help would be great...thanks

BUT, one of the members here, put me on a path to removing that so easily, it's silly.. (usually it's a special tool, or a pick tool)A simple old T-shirt... Yep, run the old shirt behind the handle, it'll grab the clip and pull it out.. BUT, beware, that clip likes to FLY and will fly FAR.. so cup your hands or hang another shirt, around the area to catch it should it fly... once you have it off, it's pretty self explanatory how it works, you'll see..
