I have an '02 Pontiac with an aftermarket remote starter in it. (Installed professionally) It has worked faithfully for the last few years, but now when I use it the car will only run for about 2 minutes and then shut off. Any ideas what's causing this change? Thanks.
Any chance of going back on the installer and asking them...? That would be the first place I would start... As complicated as they can be and with as many as there are out there, this is impossible from our standpoint.. It sounds like something is out of adjustment though, there are various timing circuts on them for all sorts of aspects of controling the functions..... if it starts the car, allows it to run for 2min and shuts down... It's working, but not allowing long enough "on" time... Call the install shop..

This site tends to be centered on the Pontiac Vibe, and it's sister Toyota Matrix, both share the same core (Toyota) powertrain, and more, and our expertise tends to be oriented to those two cars, although there are a number of people here with more extensive expertise. Still, you might be better off asking in a car site specifically purposed to the model of Pontiac that you have. It's pretty hard to know what to offer, without knowing the details of what car, what remote starter, etc. When it stalls, does it run perfectly fine and then just shut off, or does it run a bit rough just before it stalls? If you remote start it and it stalls, can you remote start it again? If you start the car manually and just let it idle, if it stalls after two minutes it could be related to the tranistion from cold to warm engine, and not from a remote starter issue.
