Hey all,I did a road trip with my new vibe (05, 5 spd, Red... aaaah) and I used my belkin cigarette lighter FM transmitter.I have a question for anyone who uses an external MPS player... where do you put it? It was very annoying up beside the steering wheel, blocking the half the temp controls.I am going to eventually get the aux in adapter for my radio, and wondering if anyone has come up with any sort of genius solution for placement. Thanks!
there are ipod/cell holders that seem to work awesome. I just had mine in the cup holder in the center console OR in that rectangle holder at the bottom. I love the aux in to the radio, charging the ipod and sounds better...Im actually selling it if you have a 1disc unit.... (i dont own the vibe any more)
Its for Ipod, BUT I have an adapter for it that converts it to mini audio jack! I had to use that adapter when going from iphone/ipod to my ipod shuffle (which only has the mini audio).
In my girlfriend's Vibe, I ran the aux cable through the center console (armrest console?), so she can easily put away her iPod and hide the cable. When she's using it, she puts it in that tiny little pocket that's immediately forward of the center console. She can't see it while driving, but it's accessible, and I think it's a bit better that way for her ;-)In my old Regal, I had a nice setup that had a mount for my iPod to the right of the steering wheel. It covered one AC vent, but overall it was quite useful. Unfortunately the same mount won't help on the Vibe.
I have a different HU that fits in place of the old with the Ipod connect wire from the back of the unit. Ran it down under the shifter into the hidden storage box there. I plug in the pod and close the box, nobody knows its there so no chance of it being stolen.
I was thinking of running down to the below shifter storage, just not sure about having power down there too.I do like the ability to have it accessible when in the car though, maybe I can find some adaptable holder for it.
I have the Schoche inline FM aux adapter, mounted on top of the radio. i put the switch on the left of the steering wheel in one of the unused switch locations. I put an aux jack on the bottom of the snap off radio cover, so no one can see the jack. I keep an old POS MP3 player with one gig in the bottom console drawer. No shiny evidence for some junkie to break into my car.
