Well I saw the how was your commute topic but thought that his was over the top. So for those of you that have been following my long wait for the new vibe... here is the latest.I work at a county ambulance base and car pool into work in the morning. My partner met me at my place this morning and I said hey I will drive today will be the last time for the car pool for this vehicle. Should have let him drive We were hauling the mail on our way into work then we heard something go "ting" and then there was this large hiss and the SUV got hard to handle. Turns out that there is a 3 inch slice in the sidewall. The tire went flat fast!! So I am glad that I drive well and we kept from going in the ditch and needing an ambulance ourselves. Well here is the kicker... the new vibe is in the dealership and not cleaned up and they have yet to put the autostart in yet. and now I have o put a new tire on a car that has to go back that and I got an email ta I have to follow up today saying that the lease is up and what am I going to do... I want rid of the SUV and I want my vibe... what else can go wrong.. I wanted money for mods not for a new tire on a car I am going to have for 2 days.So that is how my day is going and it is not even 8am
That is horrible!!!!! Is the spare tire the same size as your normal tire? I know some SUV's are. You could try paying a little to get the tire switched from the your spare rim to your actual rim and ride that out until you get the Vibe.

UPDATEwell I called a dozen places and most of them could not even find that size or know where to find it. There is a small little place not far from where it happened and they managed to find one. $40 but it is a big tire... P235 65 R17 I'll take it as it is big bux for a new one... these are an off size that I managed to get used as the others needed to be done with 6 mths left on the lease. Day is starting to look up.
If I understand this right, you are leasing the SUV and need to return it soon. If so, you need to make sure that the tires you return it with have a certain amount of tread left. I can't remember the percentage, but Pontiac used a special ruler to measure the tread on my old Grand Am. If you don't have enough tread left, they charge you extra. It may also depend on the terms of your lease.Might be worth looking into before you drop any cash on tires.
I'm so sorry to hear that, and I'm glad you're ok. It could've been much worse than needing just a tire. I second the finding a used tire. I hope at least the pic in that commute thread at least brightened your day a tiny bit?
