I rented an 09 today, and drove it 240 miles. Our 03 seems more comfortable, the 09 has me pretty cramped up. It feels like the seat does not go back as far, it needs about two more clicks back!
correct; the '09 is about 1/2 inch less leg room. It is amazing that I can tell that, but when you drive the two versions, you can tell. The dash is a lot higher on the -09 as well, and you cannot see the front of the car as easily. I wish they had increased the length of the car by 5 inches, rather than decreasing it by an inch. Nonetheless, the '09 is a far superior vehicle. I only hope that once I go on my first long trip with it, that I don't end up regretting my purchase.
Have to agree a bit. Seems the interior dash takes away from some knee room on the passenger side. And with the seat in a comfortable position, it takes away from leg room in the rear. There is actually more room in a Corolla than the Vibe/Matrix which is surprising. Looks like I will be holding out till January, may have to check out a Vue or CR-V.

+1.We were supposed to get a brand new vibe when the employee pricing was around. We never drove a 09, just assumed that it would be more or less the same as our 03.I rent cars almost every week for my job. Anything from SUV's to suckstobeyou's. I am so glad they gave me a 09 to drive, because I will not buy one now. You would think they would cater to fat dumb Americans, but nope.Voice of soup nazi:"NO VIBE FOR YOU!"
