Best day ever!

Post by Amtron »

Today was the first snow fall we got. And boy, did the snow gods ever take a huge dump on everything. But every cloud has a silver lining, or something like that, right? Well to me, this cloud was lined with gold, for today marked the first day of drifting this season!Dropped off the girlfriend at her house, called up some buddies, and abused the e-brake. Played chase with some random guy, which was pretty awesome, then went to some parking lots and stuff. Was out for a solid 3 hours, can't wait for the rest of the winter!Took some vids and pics, so I'll put them up whenever they get loaded onto computer.Edit: Here's the vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZUhwofP6r4My buddy in the jetta had an epic fail doing the J turn. I lolled at him a bit.

Haha yeah, always on the lookout. What would the ticket be for? Wreckless driving or something?

I don't think a cop would waste his time with someone sliding around an empty parking lot unless the landowner complained.... not sure what the ticket would be if they did though. I would tell them "I'm practicing my skid recovery skills in a safe environment, officer" What's he going to say to that?....Anyway, I was griping about not being able to shut off my Traction Control the other day and OU Grizzley said I would be breaking the law by ripping around an empty parking lot.

Yeah because the lack of cars in the empty parking lot is SO dangerous to others...power abuse

And by the way, police would not be wasting their time, they would waste yours if you were caught doing this. It is easy money for their department. And imagine the time it would take out of your day when you go to court to fight it, then if you do end up with points, say 2 or 4; the insurance company doubles those points, and you end up paying even more. I do not know about you, but I like my free time and money. If you have some extra to throw around, send some this way or donate to a charity. Safe Motoring!

Are the police going to write me a ticket for misspelling Grizzly too?Feel free to never break a law, OU... That's your choice, but you don't get to choose how other people drive, or spend their free time or $. Sorry if that is a problem for you. BTW: I've been driving the way I drive for over 20 years, and I don't seem to have any of the ticket/court/insurance issues you listed. Sorry to disappoint you.

Amtron, I am looking forward to seeing some pictures and videos of the snow! I really enjoy the white scenic landscape in the morning. Commuting in it is something totally different!

I think it states pretty much any fun with a car on public roads will get your car suspended + $2000-$10,000 fine if you get convicted. I remember reading that intentional spinning and sliding of tires is considered stunting. God I hate that law, makes me nervous driving my mustang!

Here's a pic of my snow covered car:And here's the link to the youtube video of the car:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZUhwofP6r4I did the first j turn and then my buddy tried to do it in his jetta. LOL, epic fail. I just laughed at him. Sorry for the poor camera skills, Blackberry's aren't made to shoot videos. I drifted around the far light post off screen, and then came around and tried to spray the camera man at the end. Not enough snow though

(removed), be careful with that word I'm emotionally unstable right now You might read about me on the news (removed)...(I hate winter)I do like snow drifting though. Be careful, some people on these forums get really offended and feel they need to preach to you when you break the law j/k. I don't consider it breaking the law, I consider it "learning the cars driving limits in unstable driver conditions". I plan on using that excuse when I get pulled over for it this winter haha.I wanna see those videos. I'll take some of me drifting with my bike in the snow too...(removed).

What is this S-N-O-W you are referring to? lol We gets none of that here, but we did in OK, WV, and TX where I used to live, not to mention Chicago where I was for a while.

And to think, you were not even testing out your car's capabilities in a empty parking lot. Those 2 Round-A-Bouts do get busy during drive-time. Thank God No One was hurt.

(removed)...yeah that was interesting and neither of us were screwing around OR speeding or doing ANYTHING reckless or wrong at all! What does that tell you? Screwing around doesn't always cause accidents, most of the time they are unexpected when you do nothing wrong (removed)....I wouldn't live by that advice though.BTW, AJ's was more money, I only needed a new tire

All the traffic lights around Costco and Terry Fox got dominated. The back up generators even were toast. Instead of the blinking red lights saying the power was out, there was ntohing. If you didn't know there was a traffic light there, it would have been really dangerous....

A reminder to others that when you drive during the winter, be a pessimist like me and expect the worst in everything and you may be able to avoid an accident, if you drive assuming you will get into one lol.

I used to love drifting in the winter... now, with FWD, it's kinda a bummer... No more 1000' diameter "drift-nuts'' Pitty, I miss the beater Subie...

Just to be clear: your advice on what/where/how to drive is a) not asked for, b) not valued, and c) not heeded. I feel sorry for you if you don't know how to let your hair down and have a little fun once in a while... but judging from your unsolicited dire warnings I can only assume that you are either afraid to try, or incapable of pulling it off without catastrophic effects. Perhaps it's best that you leave it to us to have fun with our cars, even if it does dissapoint you so to read about it.

When you approach it, you are going down hill. We had so many days where it got warm, the snow melted, and then the temps dropped resulting in the roads to freeze over. Hard to stop on ice going down hill and turn.

Discussion of illegal maneuvers in your vehicle are not allowed on this board. So afraid, incapable, whatever doesn't matter. This thread should not exist and given the direction it's headed... I think I'll just arrange for that to happen... locked.
