I think it was somewhere around $70 for the remote from GM. The site you linked to is a better deal (but it shows used or refurbished so you might as well just go eBay and get it much cheaper.)I've posted the instructions in a couple different threads but I'm too lazy to search for them right now... As long as the replacement remote is the same as your old one (check the FCC ID) I don't see why the programming would differ.

I called the dealer for a key remake, the guy was a moron. He said does the key have a chip. I thought all keys on newer cars had chips. So I was like yeah.So the key is $45 plus $10 to cut it. So for a piece of metal I pay $55, for it to look like my key it costs $10. So $55 so far. Then he said it costs $45 to sync the key with the car, i.e. program it. I have never heard of programming a key, I have the remote to open my doors and stuff. So I'm not sure where he is getting off with a $45 charge to make my key work. Anyone else got ideas?

At least with some GM vehicles with chipped keys, the PCM has to be trained to read the new key and accept it as valid. Generally it's a Security Relearn. Takes about 45 minutes, hence the charge.I'm not sure about Vibes/Matrices though. Examining the key from a 2006 Vibe, I didn't see any chip on it at all. The keys from a 95 Olds and a 98 Buick both have pretty obvious chips on the ignition key.In your first post, you mentioned losing your keyless entry. Did you also lose your ignition key as well?

Yup, my remote and key along with my little Stop n Shop and Auto Zone tabs. Either some drunk took them by accident or whatever.
