itune experts - I need help convert m4p to mp3

Post by GoLowDrew »

I downloaded music from itunes and it's in m4p format.mp4 does not work on my mp3 player.- I heard that itune can allow you to DL it as mp3? Not sure if it's true, I could not find any info.- many of the (free - trial) conveter programs mention mp4 NOT m4p. Is there one for m4p?Example: Audio format: aac, ac3, amr, mmf, mp2, mp3, mp4, mpc, ogg, ra, wav, wma" NO m4p.- I also heard itune can DL into Mp4. Then the converter would work ( iI guess), so can I DL again from itunes into Mp4?I did not know itune was going to be in a different format. Please help.

M4P is a DRM protected format and as such any attempt to directly convert it would be illegal (there is software that can do it but board rules forbid such discussion). Anyway, the legal and easy way to do it is to burn a CD from iTunes and set iTunes' import format to MP3 and re-import the CD you just burned. OK, so that's not as easy as directly converting it but it's the only way I can tell you and it IS Apple supported.

doing that is also considered illegal. the RIAA says that if you download a music track you are actually not allowed to burn into a CD even to have it as a backup. can't even do that with CD you already have. http://www.wgmd.com/blog/2007/...legal/ last line of the 2nd paragraph. if you would like some music check out some websites that the artists say it's ok to download their music for free and can share it too. you can find some really great stuff from these small bands or groups. http://creativecommons.org/http://www.jamendo.com/en/

Screw I-tunes, Screw DRM. Screw the RIAA. Amazon and other sites have DRM free music which can be imported into I-tunes. There have been a lot of sites that are dropping DRM and they were going to drop the keys that let you use the music you paid for. They all backed down (most recently Wal-Mart). Never buy music that you don't have full control over.Rant over.

offtopic Quote, originally posted by Whelan »m4p to mp3 conversion formula:m4p / 4 = mpmp + 3 = mp3viola!actually, no. the 1st step is correct but the 2nd step is wrong. the result should be mp+3. the 2nd step should be multiplying the 3 to the mp that you got from the 1st step, with the solution of mp3. should i go further? (btw i also have disproven that "women are evil" equation.) XD as has been stated the best method is to get DRM free music, but once again the RIAA has said that copying music is now illegal, even if it is just converting filetypes to something you can play. Creative Commons FTW!
