To the dealer tomorrow, Very odd sound

Post by Whelan »

So I noticed it for the last two days. I have 80,000 on the car right now, had a tranny flush done today. But when accelerating I can hear this odd whine. Then when I let off the gas it is fairly prominent inside the car. I cannot tell if it is the drivetrain, transmission, or engine. But basically when I let off the pedal and coast down it sounds like I just don't know. It's hard to explain. It's a low buzzing whirring tone that is def. noticeable and I never had it before. Not sure if it is affecting the performance but it does feel like the car is not coasting as it should (i.e. it is slowing the car down). I hope its not the transmission. If I get slapped with that and its a couple grand. I'll take the hit upside down on a trade, get something else.

Well, I was right in my assumption, I figured it had to be drivetrain and actually when I got to the dealer I told him it could be a bearing. Turns out it is. So I went back today dropped her off. Turns out it is covered under the Certified pre-owned 7yr. 100k powertrain, AWESOME! $50 deductible for a $400 job, not to shabby.

Would have just gone all out, and gotten a 2009 Audi A4. $34,000 the way I want it.

Glad to hear it was covered. Admittedly, the $400 repair would've been cheaper than the $34,000 (minus trade-in) of the Audi A4.Admittedly again, the Audi A4 would've been much more fun.

Of course it would have, in a few years time that will be a reality but for now I'm probably driving the Trix till I own it in 2 years and into the ground. Given my mileage I would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 160-180,000.
