I meant to watch it change but I forgot so the picture shows 100,018.The engine only lasted like 78,000 so this isn't the original engine, but the rest of hte car is still in perfect condition. Proof that cars should last longer than they do, regardless of the nation of origin. The drivers are the determining factor
I'm around 100,709 Km (62943 milles) for a 2005 Vibe (4 years on the road), I guess in 2 to 2.5 years from now I should reach the same landmark. So far, no problem.
No one knows how but apparently all the engine's oil vanished one day. I started getting knocks in the lower mechanics of the engine like the crank on the way home from work. By the time i got home it moved to the upper portion into the head. I was the one that changed the oil prior and I know for sure I put the correct amount of oil in it and I know that I tightened everything properly.Took it to a few shops to get opinions on what they thought it was and where. Finally after about 30 minutes of driving the next morning I took it the the dealer to get looked at. They kept saying it was coming from just the head area but I insisted the knock was all over the engine. I had to leave it there, they called next day and said there was no oil in the engine. It wasn't burning oil and it wasn't leaking oil "almost like someone removed the drain plug, drained the oil and put the plug back in.Now we all know there's no way in hell I could have driven the car for 30 minutes with no oil in it so there had to have been some oil in it otherwise it would have seized. The dealer told me there was "not a drop of oil in there" so who knows what was really wrong, and of course NO ONE knew how it happened and still to this day no one knows the reason for it. It cost me $3600 for an engine with 35,000 miles though. The new engine seems slower and less responsive than the old one, which means it's probably from an '04 or '05 Vibe...that's what I want, a slow car to be even slower (removed)...it's ok though she's still my baby Now I'm just waiting for the transmission to go and I'll be getting myself a 5 speed manual! I'm kind looking forward to that in a way.
