Dealer keeping it for a second night.....

Post by Scootman! »

So I took das vibe into the dealer to have the window recall taken care of. I had my wife drop it off and told her what to tell them about the noise coming from under the hood during start up and acceleration into third. So I get a call today saying that the dealer wanted to investigate the slow start before they would look at anything else and wanted my consent. I reluctantly told them yeah, but I just want my car back and I doubt that they will replace the starter with a stronger one. Anyone experience this?

Well lets see....year is an '04, noise begins as soon as the cars is started and the outside temp. has ranged from 50's to high 80's and no loaner car, we were told we would be able to pick it up the same day and yes it is under the extended warranty. Any idea if they will replace the starter with a better one?

They won't replace the starter with a better one per se, they'll only replace it with an identical one to what it now has. But if you are having problems with the starter, even an OEM one would technically be a better one than your current defective one. What kind of noise is it making?

I was used to the slow crank of the starter, I just wanted them to look/listen to the noise coming from under the hood which sounds like a rattling of sorts as if something is loose.
