Alot of road noise on the interior of my 09 Vibe

Post by MountainMax »

I noticed alot of road noise in my new Vibe, almost unbearable on dirt roads, I wondered if anyone use any of that boom mat stuff to deaden the sound a bit?

I find that the Eagle RS-A gives out a lot of road noise, probably the noisiest tire I ever had.

It's the tires. We also had the RS-A's and switched to Goodyear TripleTreds (225/50/16) at 110 miles.........the difference is unbelievable. Now have 30K miles and the TripleTreds look almost new. I do believe they will make the 80K miles they are rated for.

my problem is not the tires, we have no pavement here, i get rocks flicking up under the wheelwells and get horribly loud noises from that, I need sound deadner, I just ordered some hush mat pads 12"x12" to put around the wheelwells to try to cut it down some

Try getting a few cans of rubberized under coating at the auto parts store and spraying the inner wheel wells with it. A few coats later and you should notice a difference in noise and it will also help protect the surfaces from the rocks hitting it.

Yeah, I will do that too, I actually sprayed it on the inside and the outside of the wheelwells, Now I plan to cover the inside with HUSH mat, as soon as it arrives, that should Help.I did notice that it does seem quieter on the inside from the engine bay more so then my 2003, in her i could always hear alot of engine noise too, but not so much in the new one.
