Worth it?

Post by Amtron »

I went into Autovision, a parts shop in Kanata, and I asked for a estimate on getting magnaflow dual catback exhaust put on my '05 vibe. I believe the mechanic said they would be using something that you basically would put in an old Camaro. It's all stainless steel.I couldn't tell you the specs or any information other than what I just said and that they would have to be pretty much making it custom since you can't but that specially for my car. The estimated price was $1000.00 with install (price may vary on my decision on the exhaust tip).So I have two questions:1. Is this a good price? (Anyones opinion, even though I know I didn't provide much information on it)2. a) Does anyone know how much horsepower this will give me? b) Is the price worth the performance I will get?

well I think the magnaflow cat back made exactly for the vibe is like 450-500 in parts alone. But if you want dual tips, then some custom work has to be done. still 1k seems over priced if you get a muffler and y pipe the tips... Running dual's on a little 4 banger is probably not going to net you much more hp, 5 maybe?. And if you are trying to run 2 mufflers may decrease? I say just get a full magnaflow cat back system, and if you want 2 tips still, get that custom done which shouldnt cost much.

I don't like the first guys idea because he said the right exhaust is 95% louder than the left. If I go the Magnaflow, it would split a lot sooner I believe, creating equal distribution. But I like the look of it.Whereabouts in Kanata do you live?

He said that the engine doesnt have the right set up for dual, so having it would only create resistance. Plus it seems like un-necessary weight that would just defeat the purpose of having the whole thing.

i bike to beaver pond every once and awhile and drive down gouldbourn forced rd. all the time to get to centrumi love that road --- twisted and full of hills -- to bad that new subdivision is moving in....and I'd have to agree --- 1000 for an exhaust is a little much, just get a magnaflow system and save some moneysee you around town.....

My buddy found me a good deal online that gets me the magnaflow cat back with a short ram intake for $620.00 or something, so i will go with that. thanks for the input!
