Remote Starter Recommendations?

Post by Pink_Moon »

Hi Everyone, I've been lurking around the site for a little bit while I was making my mind up about what car to buy but this is my very first post. I picked up my carbon grey 2.4 L FWD on Friday and so far am loving it!I'll be installing a remote starter before winter and am looking for advice on what brand you'd recommend??? I live in Saskatoon, SK so if there are any 'local' people with thoughts on where to get the starter installed, I'd love to hear! Thanks in Advance

Congrats on the car purchase... I have an 03 5spd and I put a Pro Start 3 in 1 - 2way communicator in mine. I have had it in for almost a year now & I LOVE it. It has my car toasty warm for me when i get down from my 4th floor apt on the opposite side of the lot. My bf & I have the same system in our cars & his has worked from inside the West Edmonton Mall movie theater. And that place is nothing but cement. The alarm has proven itself useful a couple of times where we live in Edmonton... well enough said.... Not to sure where to get yours installed out there, we install all of our own gear, plus we lucked out with my '03 with not needing an overide for the ignition module. My boy says check out Bestbuy & futureshop if you have one close by for install & purchase, most times they are decent. or a local stereo shop might be good as well. Hope that helps a bit

Thanks a lot for the advice! Unfortunately we don't have a Best Buy here, and I don't think the Future Shop here does installs. In fact, it was really hard to find any place that would committ to a date and/or price - weird, could be the labor shortage here, but customer service levels are somewhat lacking I've booked it now through the dealership as the price is redasonable and this way it's completely covered by warranty.

Labor shortage? Is there a well worn path to Fort McMurray?

which one did you go with for a remote? Everything work right? My dealer has a whole bunch to chose from. I'd like to hear someone with experience in a VIBE 09

I went with this one. Big bux.... but I but it on the cost of the car over 6 years so no big deal. This thing is sweet I can't wait to try it out... will let you know how I like it.http://www.autostart.ca/prodIn...TW-FM

I ended up going with an Astrostart, installed by the dealership. I went with the super basic model, with just one button. My car key already has the remote door locks, so didn't need the extra bells and whistles of the upgraded remote starter. The one I got is very small (1.5 cm square) and cost about $550 all in. So far works great, but I haven't had to use it at a great distance yet so don't know how much range I'll get.

Nice choice. My dealership really limited my options for a starter and I now have a key chain as clunky as my wife's!You live in Saskatchewan..... your range may know no limits I don't know if the cold and snow has hit you yet, but Edmonton is getting a taste and the Vibe's heater is HOT
