Audio Options

Post by tonyn1 »

I just bought a new 09 AWD Vibe, Jet Black Metallic, and bought it off the dealers lot. I would have preferred the premium sound, but that came in a package with the moon roof, which I don't really need and didn't want to pay for. What are my options for getting better sound out of this vehicle? The premium sound has more speakers I think. How hard is it to add additional speakers to my car? I understand there might also be problems getting the OnStar to work right with an aftermarket unit. What is the best aftermarket unit out there?

I just picked up an '09 GT with the monsoon sound system. I find it lacking to say the least. As soon as I find the proper harness for the '09 vibe to keep onstar with an aftermarket deck, I will be installing a system. There are a lot of options to avoid cutting a hole to add a component system, I plan on utilizing one since the stock tweeter location in the '09 is pretty terrible. I have a set of Aura MR-62's. The tweeter is mounted on a bridge across the mid allowing both to mount in the stock door location. There are a lot of options like this. I know kicker, Image Dynamics, CDT and Polk make convertible components. The CDT's are the most reasonable in price. Just something to check out to get better sound, without cutting holes in a brand new car.As for pictures, I will post some of my new vibe soon. Hello from Ohio Genvibe forums.

There are PLENTY of options out there, what's the best, well I just saw a MacIntosh 6ch amp for sale used for 2500$... that would be consdered the best in my book... So it's really about what you want to spend... Have a look at Crutchfield.com for starters..
