2009 Vibe Complaint

Post by Toofargone »

I have been reading owners comments about their 2009 Vibe and no one seems to be upset or mad about the driver's side floor mat problem. I have owned a 2009 GT since March and the there are holes for pegs in the floor but no pegs and the holes in the mat don't line up with the holes in the floor. Dealership has no answer, Pontiac said they would inform the design dept. Meanwhile the mat slides all over the place.Am I the only one with this problem or the only one it bothers?

???? My 09 has the pegs installed and they line up just fine. Check the storage areas in the rear hatch and see if the pegs are sitting in there. They may have been overlooked when your car was prepped or they may been lost by the person prepping it. The dealer you bought the car from should be able to get them for you if they are missing.

Or could the mats be on the wrong sides? I know i had trouble in the beginning figuring out which mat was the drivers and which was the passengers...

No doubt about which one on which side. Only one has holes to go over pegs. I will go back to the dealer and ask for the pegs. Since I bought it in March and it was the first in this area I could have the wrong year mats.

Keep calling Pontiac Customer Assistance... (but be nice about it of course since you can drive the call and all just fine) If there is an issue I am sure GM will replace yours only or all under warranty as the supplier may have not made them to specs and some got out or used on cars. Gm engineering will eventually know or does know and a policy just needs to be set in place yet for this. It will not be a recall since those are safety related but it would fall under Campaigns meaning fix if the customer complains.Just keep on it calling GM and I am sure things will work out for you. SORRY, I just saw the pegs. If pegs are all you need then the dealer should be able to get them free for you.

The dealer showed me a small bag with the clips attached to the corner of the removable floor mat. Look under the mat. You may have knock it off. For the driver side only. However, I do not have the GT interior.

The clips for my mat was in a little plastic bag in the glove box along with instructions on how they were installed.

Did you check all your little storage compartments? I think my was in a little baggie stuffed in the little flip down compartment on the left of the steering wheel... Anyway, if you don't have them, the dealer should get them for you. I wouldn't think they would give you a problem over a 50 cent part.... (Although I am sure if you had to buy them they would go for a good $5)

Toofargone - were you ever able to get your hooks?I picked up my 2009 Vibe at the end of August. I didn't know about needing hooks for the driver's mat until I read it in the owner's manual. The holes in my mat do line up with the holes in my floor. I have searched all of the likely hiding places and cannot find the hooks. I have called the dealer. At first I was told that if they weren't in there, then they weren't required. My salesman has researched further and although the Vibe that was delivered the same day as mine has them, mine and all others that they have received since have not come with them. Supposedly, nobody is losing them during the car prep process.I called GM customer service and after they talked with my dealer, they told me that they were unable to get the hooks because the mats were made by an outside vendor. This made no sense to me since somebody in the assembly plant was in charge of putting them into the cars in the first place. He said that he would refer the issue to his district supervisor. The district supervisor called and she apologized for the first rep's "raising false expectations by creating the impression that they could be of any help in this issue"!! This was a sales issue and customer service cannot get involved. She would have the sales manager at the dealership call me. It has been over a week and I have not heard from him.So, I guess that I will call the dealership management, starting with the sales manager. If that doesn't work, maybe the quality assurance person at the NUMMI plant? It has gotten so ridiculous at this point that it is kind of funny in a sick way - so much effort over 50 cents worth of parts!

yes if you have this "problem" get a hold of the dealer (if you bought it new). They are SUPPOSE to be in the car installed or in a compartment.

My hooks were in place when I picked up the car. Sorry about your troubles. Dealing with GM is next to impossible. GM cut me a backdated loyalty check, and when I tried to get it corrected, it took my dealer 20 phone calls (one over 1.5 hours) to get these bozos at GM's North American Division to take some action. I almost missed out on the GMS pricing due to the utter incompetancy and unprofessionalism of the Regional Area Managers and District Supervisors. Now that I have my Corolla Vibe comfortably parked in my driveway, I would not mind GM going out of business, since I can easily get parts from Toyota. Good luck to you.
