Auto door locks

Post by willysr »

I have a 2009 and has anyone tried to bypass the auto door lock feature so when it is put in gear all doors and back hatch will quit locking automaticly?

I think it can be programmed to do that, see the owners manual.

just curious...why do you want to take out this feature? i actually like this feature...feels more safe and don't have to worry about someone carjacking you while you're driving...but that's when i drive in a very bad neighborhood haha

I changed mine from locking when i start the car to locking when I actually put it into Drive. And it now unlocks when I put it into park.

This is an old post but ...I never found this info in the 09 manual. It isn't in the 2-26 area or anywhere else that I saw. I have the directions for my 04 Vibe but can someone just post the proccess for the 09. My 09 only unlocks the doors after the car is shut off. You can't get into the front or rear doors. If you pull up to the school, put the car in park and wait for the kid...he walks up, grabs the handle and pulls and I have to say, "oh, hold on...don't keep yankin on the door!"Thanks greatly.

Why don't you take your Vibe to the same body shop I took mine to after my wreck. They seemed to make it so that the hatch doesn't lock AT ALL any more. Oh, they will fix it as soon as I have a weekday that I don't need my car.

The rear doors will remain locked until you turn off the ignition or unlock them manually.

My theory is that I'd rather have them stay locked and be bothered to unlock them when I consciously need to than to unlock automatically and get hijacked.

The only setting I was able to change myself was whether the doors unlocked when turning the car off. Turn the key to ON, shift out of Park, press unlock on the door six times, then lock. The car will unlock/lock the doors to acknowledge that the setting was changed.I think everything else you need to have the dealer's fancy schmancy scan tool to configure.

Ok, so is the dealer needed to make the doors unlock when shifted into park.. My backseat passengers get very aggravated if they can't get out.. It locks when put into gear, but then won't UNlock until the car is turned OFF..
