2004 Vibe CD adapters

Post by katiejonesnc »

I am attempting to replace my factory radio in my 2004 AWD with an aftermarket Sony CD Player. I have the dash kit and wire harness. When I take out my factory radio there are 2 factory plugs that go in the back of the factory radio but the harness that I bought only has one plug. What am I supposed to do with the smaller factory plug? I can't seem to google another adapter so I am stuck. Thanks for your help.

Hi Katie, welcome to genvibe.I think the second plug has only one wire, or perhaps only one wire used, and it's suppsoedly a mute control for the amp on Vibes with the Moon&Tunes, (or sun and sound) package. I don't know it if really does anything anyway, I replaced the radio in a Matrix that had the sunroof and under seat amp, and it had no second connector for the radio. http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=6799 has some various discussions about pinouts, the viberadio.gif linked there is also useful

But if you get the Metra 70-2003 like I've shown, it should work... I went through 2 different dash kits, before I got the right one to...

the plug with only 1 wire just gets stuck out of the way. it isn't used with an aftermarket headunit. i just replaced my head unit and had the same senario.welcome by the way.
